    How to Root Xiaomi Redmi 2 (Rooting Guide)

    Rooting Guide For Xiaomi Redmi 2

    Requirements :-

    • Xiaomi Redmi 2 Handset
    • A Windows PC
    • Internet Connection

    How to Root Xiaomi Redmi 2 :- 

     

    Step 1 : First Step that we need to do to root Redmi 2 handset is to install a temporary custom recovery.

    Step 2 : So for install CWM Recovery you need to have adb and fastboot tools and to use adb we need to install its driver, so firstly download adb drivers from below and install them.

    Step 3 : Now download adb and fastboot tools that we are going to use for installing recovery.

    Step 4 : Extract the downloaded file in your desktop after that download recovery.img, extract and place it in the same folder.

    after doing so you will get a folder like this.

    Step 5 : Press and hold “shift” button and right click in the blank area of the folder and click on “open command promt window here“. The command prompt will open, see below image for reference.

    Step 6 : Now download SuperSu.Zip and place it in SD card of your phone.

    Step 7 : Next turn off your Redmi 2. Wait until it vibrates. After it’s vibrated press and hold “Volume down and Power” keys together until it boots into “fastboot mode“. Now connect the Redmi 2 to your PC/Laptop through USB cable in fastboot mode itself.

    Step 8 : Now in command prompt windows execute the following command, Once you enter that command, you will get a non-empty name for the device meaning the device is connected.

    Step 9 : Next execute the below command to flash the Recovery img (This will flash CWM Recovery for the current boot, that we need for flashing SuperSu.Zip with CWM).

    Step 10 : Now you will be CWM Recovery Mode, now flash the SuperSu.Zip that you placed in SD card earlier before in Step 6 by choosing install from SD card and select SuperSu.Zip and install it.

     

    Step 11 : After successful flash, reboot your device, after rebooting you will fine SuperSu app and your device will be rooted.

    Note : You will not get into the CWM Recovery after boot because that was a temporary installation, to permanently install CWM Recovery (Root Required) follow our below guide.

    Now if you want to flash CWM Recovery permanently then follow our guide for doing so.
